Approximately 500 years ago, Albedo was made by an alchemist named Rhinedottir ("Master"). She has creations before him (notably Durin and Subject 2), but he's her first success. It's later revealed she considers him her child.

Albedo had no childhood and jumped right into adventuring as an adult.

He traveled the world with her and had little interactions with other people. Most time was with her, in dungeons, and studying. She was a strict teacher, he was very focused on pleasing her with his work. This lasted for hundreds of years.

In this time, he learned Alchemy, Khemia, and also got a good grasp on fine arts.

They found an artifact known as The Heart of Naberius. When they did, his Master took it and vanished.

His Master left him with a mission to find the "Meaning of this World", a book, and a recommendation letter for her friend

who could set him up in Mondstadt with more than he'd ever need.

Her friend ("Aunt Alice") sets him up with the Knights of Favonious and also introduces him to Klee. He's been in Mondstadt for "a few years".

He quickly obtained status as a renowned alchemist not only in Mondstadt, but throughout Teyvat - due to his skills and knowledge. He's perceived as a genius. He is the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation team.

He spends most of his time working in Dragonspine (he mentions resonating with Durin

who puts the Dragon in "Dragonspine"); He does periodically spend time cleaning up after Klee or working with other Knights of Favonious. He knows others but does not have many close, personal relationships.

He also becomes an established artist, creating illustrations for Xingqiu's novels (using "Calx" as pseudonym).

While he's working in Dragonspine, the Traveler is recruited to help him. Albedo takes interest in them and runs experiments on them as part of his curiosity about other worlds. He asks the Traveler to perform tasks for gathering data. Albedo quickly confides in the Traveler his fears for his future. But, he overcame his inspiration block thanks to his newfound curiosity.

During the Windblume festival, Albedo makes the "Windblume Flower" with Khemia.

Albedo's next major appearance is in Dragonspine. It is while here that he reveals that he was made. Subject 2 makes an appearance through this and poses as Albedo. Albedo also reveals the other creations are failures; however, he decides to let Subject 2 live on as someone who had passed away.

He is invited to Inazuma to create several pieces of artwork for the Irodori Festival (as Calx).

Note that he has few more appearances, but he does meet characters in cameos. This includes working with Tighnari on creating an antidote, creates a custom card back for Cyno (who requested "Calx"), and most recently meeting Wanderer.

❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes

Skills:

Alchemy - In Genshin this is a method of creating items, materials, and potions of various kinds by combining other items. This includes things that can help enhance weapons, change, and evolve them. It also includes potions to help with combat - mainly in attack and defense. As it was something studied and mastered, I would consider it a skill.

Khemia - A branch of Alchemy that is from Khaenri'ah. It focuses on creation of life. For Albedo, we mostly see it in plantlife, but it is not limited to it. Khemia is not practiced by really anyone in Teyvat (except himself and his master) and it's controversial that he practices it. As he studied and continues to study and learn more, I would consider it a skill.

Intelligence - He's a machine when it comes to learning. He puts a lot of energy and practice into it. Others call him a genius, but he denies it.

Swordsmanship - His main weapon is a sword. He's fairly skilled and is a ranking officer in Knights of Favonious.

Artist - Albedo is a skilled artist in a variety of mediums.

Canon Abilities:

Geo Vision - In the context of Genshin, having a Geo Vision is the equivalent of having Earth Magic. He can create and manipulate earth as a result of his Vision. For him specifically, he has a couple of specialties. This includes summoning a Solar Isotoma (which is essentially a flower shaped Geo construct that can raise off the ground for a limited amount of time - it can even do it with someone standing on it). He can also pull Geo crystals from the ground to attack others.

Longevity - Albedo has an extended lifespan due to being a synthetic human. He also shows no signs of aging, as well.

Role: Familiar.
Role Qualities/Attributes: Albedo is going to start low and slow. Small animal features will be where they start - ears, a tail. Nothing too exciting. It will evolve as he discovers more about himself. He will be inclined to test out and see what he's able to do as far as attributes go and find out what he can about them. He wants to find more out about how they work, too. The starting animal is going to be an Artic Fox, but he may also take on a form similar to that of another of his Master's Creations, Durin - a shadow dragon with the black scales, claws, and a full deal.
Role Reasoning: As someone who was simply one of many creations his master made, he often compares himself to them so it will be interesting for him to have to take on the features of them in the future. Also, he's more practical in nature and growing, which means he doesn't really tend to strongly fall in either other category. He does things sometimes simply for the sake of learning. He's still in the process of learning and figuring out himself. Due to a part of his journey being self-discovery, a familiar is a perfect role for someone who's still figuring themself out.

What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
For Albedo, the most defining relationship in his life was his Master. To start, she is his maker. She's more than just his teacher and mother. She was his entire world for such significant part of his life and he lived to please her. He was always such a good student, but he did it for her because she was all that he had known. He worked hard as he was certain that was what would keep her by his side and a part of him was always worried that she would one day up and leave him. But it wasn't just a relationship that defined him when they were together, her absence shaped him just as much. When she left him, he continued to guide him - she led him to Mondstadt, she used her contacts to set him up there, and gave him his mission beyond her. His presence in Mondstadt has been a major shift in his life. Even though she had been the only person in his life for so long, it was also because of her that he formed new relationships. He still works on the mission that she gave him, but he's started to come into his own since they've been separated. It's become less about needing to meet her expectations and more about wanting to discover things on his own.

What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not?
Albedo's moral code can be fairly flexible, but this is because he approaches different parts of his life differently.

The main reason is that sometimes one has to be flexible in order to make progress in education. He sees a lot of things - including the Geo Vision he obtained - as tools for his experiments. He wants to know how things work. This can mean doing risky experiments where people may end up getting caught in the crossfire. It also means that some of the things he wants to learn about may be living things. That being said, Albedo is not a monster, so even though he loves to learn how things work - his experiments on living beings are not done with the goal of hurting or killing them (just seeing how parts of them tick). Khemia is seen as a very questionable practice, as well, and his active participation in it can be seen by others as being a little sketchy, as well!

Beyond his education and experiments, he has a far more straightforward approach. In this part of his life, he is a Knight of Favonious so he tries to do his best and do good things. He aims to do the right thing and he will protect and care for people he cares about.

What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?
For Albedo, he finds safety in a couple of places Part of him finds isolation comfortable and relaxing. He likes the peace and quiet away from others and up in locations where others are not likely to roam. It's not that he actively dislikes people, he just finds relationships tiring. It's in isolation that he can find time to work away from others. Since it's controversial that he practices Khemia, the more he can work and study it away from others, the better. It's here he can experiment freely without prying eyes waiting for him to fail. This also means that he is the only person at risk when he's doing his work.

And while he loves his time alone, there are a couple of people that he finds worth the time and effort that they take, and they are also places where he feels confident, relaxed, and comfortable. Above all of them, and most important of them - is Klee. He considers Klee his family - and she acts as a little sister to him. This is the time where we see the more personable parts of Albedo that aren't just ever-focused on the job. He is relaxed, happy, and enjoys spending time with her. He will engage with her adventures and imagination, as well. It's very clear he loves her and is safe and comfortable with her, as it is with her that we see him come out of his shell.

What would your character sacrifice to get what they want or to reach their potential? What have they sacrificed already?
For a guy who has lived as long as he is, he hasn't actually sacrificed as much as you may think. Most of the things that are lost from his life aren't things he gave up intentionally - such as his Master or all those years he spent with her. At that, he didn't know anything else. But once he started to learn differently, Albedo is someone who finds time to be precious - noting often how little there is in a day. He would give up days, weeks, months - years in the pursuit of learning all that he can about the world. To him, his potential is finding the meaning in the world around him. This would also mean him giving up the relationships he has with others (because they are time consuming) in order to gain the knowledge he gets from performing relationships.
